ISRAELIAN CHALICE OR CUP WITH LID. IRON AGE II.
1,000 – 800 BC
Height: 31 cm with lid
Width: 12.5 cm
Peculiar chalice with lid from the Iron Age, made of terracotta, originally from the territorial area of the tribes of Israel.
It is a piece probably related to worship and liturgy, like other similar pieces also found. The work is richly decorated with almost thirty red and black circles and stripes inspired by Phoenician tradition.
The piece has a small reconstruction or repairing on one edge of the base. It preserves its original patina uncleaned, with a lot of inlays of earth and roots both inside and outside.
